Listen & Learn a little about me......

1)Teaching has always been very interesting to me. To be able to add Technology in the mix is a dream. The students are able to work independently and have a more hands on experience thanks to technology. As a reading teacher, I know it is important to keep my students attention. For one of my lessons I plan to have my students bring in lyrics from the Internet of there favorite songs. I will put the student in groups, give the students school reading material in addition to the lyrics, and as a group they will dissect the meaning of the course material and their songs.
2)I aspire to work with high school students, preferably the ninth and tenth grade level. I want to help prepare students for the reading portion of FCAT. The supervision aspect of the Internet will be tough to monitor, especially when there are so many different networking sites that can sometimes be Incorporated into the lesson, so I don't want to have facebook, etc. blocked... I plan to work at a school whose grades are C and below, so I'm not to sure about the supervising aspect. If I am fortunate to have computers in my class room I know I can set time limits to make sure computer work is being done in a proficient manner.
3)I honestly love the blogging as a web based tool. It can be used for so many things. Journals, Homework, Extra credit, etc. This also allows the student to have fun and create the own page so its more personal, this way it won,t seem like homework, hopefully it will be something fun to do.

1)As a student, Microsoft Word is my life. I am an English/Literature major so I write many papers! Like the textbook stated many of my teachers have used Microsoft Word for Outlines, Letters and many other cool features.
2)My best example of recent usage of Microsoft Word, was for a class project. My group members and I researched information for AIDS awareness, and we created a general knowledge information brochure to help enlighten the youth on ways to protect and prevent themselves from the deadly virus.
3)I'm very impressed at how hand-on this class is. I realize how easy it will be to relate with the my future students through technology. I think using a blogging site as a journal is very innovative and Eco-friendly. I know as a teacher it would definitely be helpful to check journals over the Internet as opposed to making student purchase a notebook and having to collect all my students notebooks. Blogging would definitely help me to maximize my class time with my students.

1)Technology is life in the new millennium. We began on the same pace, however somewhere along the line, technology took off. Don't get me wrong, I know how to do the basics, but that's it!
2)My job requires me to be somewhat computer literate. So I use technology almost everyday, but I don't venture off to learning new things about the computer.
3)In this class, I hope to learn and be updated with my brother's generation on everything I need to know about computers. I mean I didn't even have a My Space page because I think everything on their is so difficult. The only reason I have one is because both my brother and best friend set it up!!! Learning the lastest technology advances will definitely help me as I move on with my on advancements in life!!! I look forward to a prosperous learning semester.
